Iya Villania-Arellano formally returned to GMA-7 last November 2 through the musical variety show “Sunday All Stars.”
The show has been so warm in welcoming her, Iya said, adding that this is like a homecoming for her.
She has been gone for 10 years after she transferred to ABS-CBN in 2004. Some of those she worked with before in GMA-7 are still in the network, so there are definitely familiar faces.
She doesn’t feel like a stranger even though it has been 10 years since she last laid foot on the network.
From now on, Iya will be a regular on “Sunday All Stars.” She had a daring production number last Sunday and hopefully, she will be able to sing too.
Singing is what she wants to do when Iya entered showbiz. Maybe her stay with ABS-CBN and her focus on dancing was just God’s way of telling her “not now.”
Iya is still planning the kind of production numbers she wants. She is still adjusting to her new home because it feels weird to be with the Kapuso network.
Iya is formally with “ASAP 19,” “Sunday All Stars'” rival program.
She joked that she wants a showdown with Christian Bautista, not in singing but in dancing because she’ll surely win against him.
One of the people who is surely happy with her transfer is husband Drew Arellano, a mainstay of Kapuso network for many years. Iya joked that he better be happy that she’s there because Drew felt she’s stalking him.
“Feeling ko, hindi siya masyadong natutuwa na lumipat ako. Joke lang!”
Will she be working with Drew in the future? She would love to do that, but she’ll just wait for whatever will be offered to her.
Iya said she cannot be demanding, so she will be patient in waiting what’s in store for her and Drew.
Aside from “Sunday All Stars,” Iya has no idea yet what other projects are being prepared for her. She wants to do a comedy show rather than a drama series.
