Heart Evangelista has matured enough throughout the years to fight for her boyfriend Senator Chiz Escudero.

Evangelista’s parents are against Escudero. They even staged a press conference to let the couple know they don’t agree with their relationship.

But Evangelista chose to side with her boyfriend.

When asked if he is worth fighting for, Evangelista said “oo, sobra.”

But if they don’t end up together, the actress said it’s okay because “that’s life.”

“Kung mali, mali. Wala naman talagang puwedeng ipilit.”

She has gone through the same road before when her parents also didn’t approve of ex-flame Jericho Rosales.

“I’ve been down this road before and there’s no certainty.”

“You’re with someone and you fight for someone because you believe that this person is good for you and you’re good for that person too.”

She said she learned a lot of things in her past relationship because she let go when it is already becoming hard for her.

“But you know, there’ll come a person in your life that, you know, I’ll try very hard because I want this to work.”

Evangelista cannot say what the future holds for them–if her parents, especially her mother, will be able to accept the senator.

She explained that her mother, Cecile Ongpauco, has a very strong personality.

“When she believes in things, she just believes on that.”

“But you know, I guess, that’s why I was made na parang my own person and we just don’t believe on the same thing.”

Evangelista said she is still “mourning” now because of what happened between her and her parents.

However, she said she needs to fulfill her personal and professional obligations.

She is also worried about her father since she is closest to him.

Evangelista added she was hurt by the negative comments hurled against her mother.

She said she understands why they acted that way and where they were coming from, so there’s no need for people to bash her parents.

“But when I hear things about my mom, I still feel bad. Siyempre, she’s my mom and I feel embarrassed for her.”

The plan of girlfriend Heart Evangelista’s parents to file criminal and civil raps against him are “baseless,” Senator Chiz Escudero said.

“Wala naman sigurong basehan,” the senator said during the taping of GMA’s Paninindigan.

Last week, Cecile and Rey Ongpauco said they plan to file criminal and civil charges against the senator for manipulating their daughter, Heart, and for dragging private citizens into a scandal.

Although it is within the Ongpaucos’ rights to do so, Escudero maintained he was the one being pushed against the wall.

“Ako ang tinawag na kung anu-anong pangalan, wala akong tinawag na pangalan laban sa kanila. Ako ang pinaratangan ng kung ano-ano.”

Earlier, he called on the Ongpaucos to stop attacking him since the issue has affected his mother and children.

He was also asked if the issue has affected his campaign. Escudero said his camp has to work hard, so that the truth will eventually come out.

But Reil German, a PR specialist, said the drama might affect Escudero’s bid for another term in the Upper House.

For her part, Evangelista pleaded with her parents to put an end to the issue and to let her make the decision.

“Sana matapos na ‘to kasi wala naman din akong ginagawang mali. Kung may ginagawa akong mali, I’m sorry. Hayaan niyo akong matuto on my own.”

Heart Evangelista told her parents to let her decide if she still wants to be with boyfriend Senator Chiz Escudero.

She was a guest on GMA’s H.O.T. TV on Sunday afternoon to answer the allegation hurled by her parents, Cecile and Rey Ongpauco, against Escudero.

Evangelista decided to finally break her silence because a lot of people are getting hurt, she said.

“Nahihiya na rin ako sa ibang mga taong nadadamay kaya I decided to speak today.”

She revealed Escudero is really worried about her and how she was being affected by the issue.

She understands that her parents want to protect her from harm and heartaches, Evangelista said. She added though she needs to choose what makes her happy.

“So medyo mahirap, actually mahirap na nandito ako ngayon dahil mahal na mahal ko sila, mahal na mahal ko yung magulang ko at ginagawa ko ang lahat-lahat.”

“Pero sana, hayaan na lang nila akong maging masaya, yung walang kokontra at walang pipigil kung anong nagpapatawa sa akin.”

She also asked her parents to let learn from her own mistakes.

Evangelista couldn’t understand what triggered her mother’s reaction against the senator. She said they even went to Escudero’s beach house, and that her father got along with the senator.

But her mom, Evangelista said, still cannot let go of her.

Evangelista came to the rescue of the senator and denied the allegations by her parents that Escudero was disrespectful to them.

“Senator siya, kung ibang tao nga ginagalang niya, yung mas mababang tao nga nandiyan siya para sa kanila, ano pa kaya yung magulang ng taong mahal niya?”

She couldn’t remember if there was an incident wherein Escudero disrespected her parents.

Evangelista also said Escudero has no drinking problems. She added it was hard for her to tell that all the allegations are not true because it’s like saying her parents are liars.

“Ang hirap talaga ng posisyon ko ngayon pero kung anuman ang nasasabi tungkol sa amin at sa kanya, hindi totoo yun.”

When asked why her parents are acting that way, Evangelista said it is because they want them to part ways.

All of the things they are doing is to ruin her relationship with the senator, she said.

Evangelista said she “lost a lot of great people in my life because I chose them.”

She was referring to ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales, who she was with for three years. Her parents also didn’t approve of Rosales. They didn’t talk to her for the duration of their relationship.

Evangelista said she has let go of a lot of people just to make her parents happy. She said she doesn’t want also her loved ones to be in a difficult position because of her.

The senator told her to respect her parents and to do what is right. Evangelista said they don’t want to appease her parents anymore because they did everything already.

“Siguro ang best talaga is after this, mananahimik na po ako, si Chiz, at hahayaan na lang namin na lumipas dahil lahat ng tao nasasaktan ngayon.”

“Hayaan na lang nating lumipas ito and it will all fall into place in God’s time.”

In her message to her father, Evangelista said she wants him to rest and be better. She added her father is always the one on her side, and that she wished he will finally see the truth.

When it comes to her mother, the actress asked her why she is doing this to her.

“Anak mo ako, pamilya tayo, tama na! Tama na ho.”

“Walang mananalo dito, lahat tayo nasasaktan, lahat tayo talo dahil nawala tayo sa isa’t isa, we lost each other.”

Asked about Escudero, she apologized to him, his family and his supporters.

“Napakabuti mong tao and I’m so sorry to his family at sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa kanya. Sana suportahan ninyo siya dahil napakabuti niyang tao. Nahihiya ako sa inyong lahat.”
